Fearing Bridget will speak the truth, Steve forbids her from attending his sentencing. But with Declan's support Bridget defies her father and comes out to defend him. Miranda pleads with Toadie to save her family, and as Nicola stands by watching she desperately tries to hide her true emotions for the man she loves. When Steve's future starts to look bleak, who will crack first and speak out?
Toadie asks Susan to take care of Callum while he defends Steve in court. However, Susan has a turn for the worse when his wayward behaviour becomes too much for her.
Carmella witnesses Marco's heartbreak under the weight of family pressure. In an attempt to lift Marco's burden she approaches Franco and explains to him his son’s dream of the General Store. However, her plan backfires when Franco instead comes down heavy on Marco about getting Carmella to do his dirty work. Distressed, Marco begins to admit to himself that he may have to give up on his long-term dreams.

Still dealing with the fallout of Carmella’s reckless night out, Marco is unexpectedly confronted by his father Franco and is plunged back into the old routine of forever seeking approval. Determined to stand on his own two feet, Marco finally tells his father he’s leaving the family business. But his resolve wavers when Franco gives him disturbing information, forcing him to make an impossible choice.
Buoyed by Susan and Declan's support, Rebecca sits her law exam but is doubtful of her chances of success. After receiving tough love from Elle, Paul makes an attempt to reconnect with Rebecca, but she keeps him at arm's length. Declan suspects her anger hides unresolved feelings.
There's a new kid on the block, Callum Jones. Steph believes that in him she's found a way to sooth Toadie's disappointment over the failure of his adoption plans. However, her introduction of a brother figure falters when Toadie rejects him. It is only when the pair discovers a common love of professional wrestling that a bond is forged, but they're in for a shock when Toadie drops the boy home and faces the possibility of becoming Callum's full-time carer.

Carmella guiltily admits to Marco that she is the thief in the ranks. Marco asks Carmella why she has been stealing money from him when he has been working so hard to stay afloat and pay off her credit card bill on top of it. Carmella tries to explain that she has a shopping addiction brought about by her depression; however, Marco feels she is unhappy because of him, and a mutual misunderstanding causes a rift between them.
Miranda finds the letter from Riley that Nicola has been so desperate to keep from the family and demands to know why. Nicola tells her that Riley was coming on to her, and an argument between the sisters ensues. Stung by some harsh words they both walk away to lick their wounds. When Steve is sympathetic towards her and asks her to stay, it's clear that Nicola still harbours deep feelings for him.
Toadie's attempt at becoming a dad fails when Timorese Dia's arrival is cancelled because of his dodgy application. Clearly hurt, Steph tries to console him but is turned down harshly. Later, Toadie realises how stupid he's been and apologises to Steph, breaking down the wall that exists between them. Could they have a chance at happiness together?

Declan offers his understanding and support to a burdened Bridget, leading her to finally reveal the truth about what really happened to Chris. Meanwhile, Nicola's secret also threatens to rear its ugly head.
With Lyn's advice ringing in her ears, Carmella is determined to make time for romance with Marco. However, Marco's work gets in the way as his father makes even more demands on his time. Disappointed, Carmella returns to her old ways and dips into the General Store's till again. Marco stands up to his father and reinstates their dinner date; riddled with guilt Carmella attempts to return the cash to the till, only to be caught red-handed by her other half. What will the future hold for these two?
Toadie prepares for the arrival of his adoptive child. Meanwhile, Steph sees Toadie's new interest as a way to close a chapter on her life. It's not a total cutting of ties, though: after it's revealed that Bob's the cause of Dan's chicken pox, Steph becomes the temporary custodian to her ex's four-legged friend.

While Declan calls Paul a scumbag and practically chases him away from the General Store, Rebecca harangues her ex in front of Lyn and Steph, telling him in no uncertain terms what a lowlife he is for taking Kirsten to Paris with him and dressing it down as just a one-night stand. Elle is conflicted by her feelings of anger towards her father and concern for his welfare, and in the end invites him home to live with her.
Feeling overwhelmed by the startling details of Paul's affair, Rebecca makes plans to leave Erinsborough and give up on her dream of law school. Susan gathers the women of Ramsey Street, and they rally around to convince Rebecca to stay.
Nicola tries to build a bridge for her past mistakes and seeks out work at the hospital in order to help the Parkers through their recent financial hardships. Will she also manage to impress the man she loves with her generosity of heart?
Libby takes the plunge and approaches Dan about Sam's seemingly compulsive behaviour, unaware that Sam has beaten her to it and covered her tracks. Dan confronts Libby about her motivations and asks her to stay well clear of his and Sam's relationship in the future.
Paul's affair has not only destroyed his relationship with Rebecca but also had far-reaching effects on other residents of Ramsey Street. Oliver, caught between his love for Elle and his hurt at her lies, decides to sack Kirsten from her position at Lassiter's and later resigns himself. While Mickey and Ned anguish over Kirsten's alienation from the community, Elle's devastation turns to sheer anger at Paul for destroying the family she loves and her relationship with Oliver.
Meanwhile, Rebecca searches in her heart for a way to forgive Paul but gets a harsh wake-up call when she comes face to face with Kirsten. Forgiveness looks highly unlikely when Rebecca's nemesis lets slip that the affair was more than just a one-night stand and that she accompanied Paul on a trip to Paris - the ultimate slap in the face for Rebecca.
Dan's self-imposed chicken pox quarantine sets Sam on edge as her efforts to fall pregnant are shut down. Suddenly her obsession with falling pregnant turns into an obsessive-compulsive cleaning frenzy at the office. After witnessing the outburst, Libby suspects that Sam might be having a bipolar episode and goes off in search of help.
The truth about Paul's affair with Kirsten is out, and Rebecca's dream of a fairytale future is shattered. She finds herself in familiar territory listening to a man profess his love after he has hurt and betrayed her. She does what she hoped she would never have to do again: packs her bags. The fallout from Paul's betrayal is widespread, and Elle, Oliver, Declan and whistle-blower Susan pay a high price. But no one pays like Paul, and at the end of the evening he has lost a lover and a daughter.
Rachel and Ty see a band together as friends, but when Ty is hassled by an overzealous groupie Rachel springs a surprising solution that forces them together as a make-believe couple for the evening. News of Samantha’s apparent pregnancy spreads like wildfire, and Dan is stunned to hear about it from Libby rather than his wife. Confronted, Samantha sticks to her lie, unwilling to give Dan reason to suspect she’s unwell by recanting. Dan’s dubious of the rapid timing, but Samantha reveals she went off her medication weeks ago, causing Dan to once again feel on the outer in his relationship. Eventually his happiness at having a child wins out, and he commits to supporting Samantha no matter what. However, Karl’s obvious doubts rattle Samantha, and she confides in Elle, seeking validation for her reckless lie. Convinced she’ll fall pregnant soon, Samantha believes Dan will never know.
Buoyed after opening up to Susan, Lyn continues to speak honestly about her issues, forming a bond with new mum Carmella. Hearing of Lyn’s post-natal depression and subsequent shoplifting strikes a chord in Carmella, who appreciates her insight.
Steve feels the weight of community disapproval and, after a confrontation with Chris’s friend Mozzie, resigns as the Dingoes’ footy coach. But when Mozzie returns to settle the score, the footy team rallies around in a show of support. Meanwhile, Bridget learns who her friends are when she discovers what happened to her missing necklace.
Determined to fall pregnant, Sam buys her first pregnancy test kit, and Libby is quietly devastated when she learns of Sam and Dan’s plans for parenthood. When Libby finds a tearful Sam with an empty test kit box, she assumes Sam’s crying tears of happiness. In the moment, Sam makes the fateful decision to play along and lies that she is indeed pregnant.
Steph approaches Susan for advice about Lyn’s fragile emotional state. Shamed Susan admits she’s been avoiding her to hide her MS symptoms. She vows to be more honest and try to help her old friend.
Carmella is talked into a night on the town with Sienna, Steph and Libby. She tastes freedom for the first time in a long time – and likes it.
As Steve attends a bail hearing on his manslaughter charges, Bridget vows to stand up in court and take responsibility for Chris’s accidental death. But when the time comes and Bridget shocks the court by interjecting during proceedings, Steve's protective love silences her. Pleading guilty to manslaughter, Steve is granted bail and begins to prepare his family for life without him. Unable to dismiss his gut instinct that Steve isn't guilty, Declan starts his own investigation. It bears unexpected and disturbing fruit when Declan finds Bridget's pendant necklace at the scene of the crime.
Dan's subconscious betrays him when he is rocked by a dream about having a baby with Libby. His feelings of guilt threaten to destabilise his relationship with Samantha, but her unquenchable sense of fun wins the day.
Kirsten's willingness to be there for emotional Ned in his hour of need makes denying their attraction almost impossible.
Steve continues to protect Bridget at all costs as the case against him builds momentum. Devastated, Miranda pledges to keep his secret and forbids Bridget from telling the truth. Samantha fears the stress of the case will trigger her bi-polar symptoms and enlists Toadie's help to represent Steve.
Dan attempts to prompt Samantha to come clean, but she continues to keep her plans to have a baby a secret. Karl urges Dan to talk to her and reveals to Samantha's horror that Dan knows her plans. Dan confronts Samantha, and her impassioned argument convinces him to take a risk and start a family.
Libby pushes Ty and Rachel together, in the hope that he will encourage Rachel to sing again. When Libby sees their easy friendship and common interests she realises she must finally end Ty's hope for a relationship and let him move on.
